Professor Janet Mary Wilson is an Emerita Professor of English and Postcolonial Studies at the University of Northampton’s Faculty of Arts, Science, and Humanities, as well as the editor of the Journal of Postcolonial Writing and a member of the board of the Journal of New Zealand Literature.

Wilson was elected Vice President of the National Conference of University Professors in 2018 and became President from 2020 until 2022.
Wilson is currently a Visiting Professor at Birmingham City University, an Academic Visitor at the University of Auckland, and a Visiting Research Fellow at the Rothermere American Institute at the University of Oxford, where she previously worked as a Senior Research Fellow and an Associate Research Fellow.
Previously, she was a Visiting Fellow at Jamia Millia Islamia University.
Wilson held an Australian Commonwealth Fellowship at the University of Sydney from 1972 to 1974, as well as a Violet Vaughan Morgan Studentship at St Catherine’s College, Oxford (1980-1981).
She has an MA in English from Victoria University of Wellington, an MA in Medieval English from the University of Sydney, and a DPhil in English from St Catherine’s College, Oxford.
