Kelly Olynyk’s parents are Ken and Arlene Olynyk. His father, Ken served as head men’s basketball coach at the University of Toronto from 1989 to 2002.

Kelly Olynyk’s father was also on the Canadian junior men’s national team from 1983 to 1996. In 2003, Ken was appointed the athletic director at Thompson Rivers University in Kamloops, British Columbia.

Kelly Olynyk’s mother, Arlene worked as a Canadian Interuniversity Sport (CIS) women’s basketball referee From 1995 to 2004, Kelly Olynyk’s mother worked for the Toronto Raptors, serving as the first female NBA scorekeeper.

Kelly Olynyk was brought up alongside two sisters, Jesse and Maya. Maya Olynyk later played CIS basketball for the Saskatchewan Huskies.

Kelly Tyler Olynyk was born on April 19, 1991, in Toronto, Canada. Kelly Olynyk’s family is of Ukrainian origin. He relocated to Kamloops, British Columbia along with his family when he was in grade 7.

Kelly Olynyk has played for the Boston Celtics (2013–2017), Miami Heat (2017–2021), Houston Rockets (2021), and Detroit Pistons (2021–present).

    I’ve been meaning to congratulate you for your son Kelly and I see your daughter is also excelling. I’ve been very impressed with Kelly’s play and especially his unselfishness both regarding NBA play and his Olympic dedication.
