Who is Keith Taylor and what work does he do?
Keith Benjamin, Floella Benjamin’s spouse, is a television director, writer, cameraman, and co-founder of Floella Benjamin Productions, a film and television production company.
He began his career in the theatre, supervising multiple West End performances and toured the Nation with the Royal Ballet’s ‘Ballet for All’. He also worked as a design assistant at the National Theatre.
He composed comedic sketches for the BBC’s popular children’s shows ‘Playaway’ and ‘Fast Forward’ in the 1970s and 1980s.
Since 1987 he has created, designed and written hundreds of children’s TV programmes, including the award winning series ‘Hullaballoo’.

He directed and was Director of Photography on ‘Coming to England’ for the BBC and won a Royal Television Society Award for the drama in 2004.
For Carlton Television, he has also written and directed educational, lifestyle, and travel programs, as well as documentaries for adults such as “A Taste of Cuba,” “Taste of the Caribbean,” “Africa on a Plate,” and “Statues and Monuments.”
For 20 years, he was a Magistrate, Chairman of the Bench, appraiser, and mentor to novice magistrates.
Keith is a philanthropist who supports various charities, including The Stroke Association, World Heart Beat Music Academy, and Transplant Connections, a nonprofit that literally saves lives by doing parent-to-child kidney transplants.
He recently authored and directed ‘Hey Diddle Diddle,’ a 42-part radio comedy series, as well as ‘Floella’s Story Sack,’ a children’s book.
Alvina Taylor and Aston Taylor are Keith and Benjamin’s two children.
