Controversial TV host and politician Jerry Springer was the father of one child, daughter Katie Springer who was born in 1976.

Interest in Jerry Springer’s daughter has spiked following his demise which occurred on Thursday, April 27 at his home near Chicago, Illinois. He was 79 years.

Katie’s mother is Micki Velton. Katie’s parents were married in 1973 and divorced in 1994, after over two decades of marriage.

What is Katie Springer’s disability?

Katie is legally deaf in one ear and blind. She was born without nasal passageways, a problem that was later treated surgically.

Katie talked openly about her parents in a 2006 interview with Access Hollywood, describing how they have always been there for her despite her health issues.

She said:

“I’ve heard this story that when I was first born and they heard about all these problems, they just said, ‘We’re never going to treat her different, we’re going to make sure she knows she’s not different.”

Katie also credited them with giving her the mindset which launched her into her successful life.

She said at the time:

“Look at me now, About to get married, live independently, have a wonderful career.”

Katie is married to Adam Yenkin and they have a son.
