Katie Piper Before Acid: What acid did Katie Piper use?

The acid Daniel Lynch and his accomplice used in the attack against Katie Piper was sulfuric acid. Sulfuric acid is a highly corrosive chemical that, when concentrated, has the potential to be explosive. It can cause severe skin burns, irritate the nose and throat and make breathing difficult if inhaled, burn the eyes and possibly cause blindness if ingested, and burn holes in the stomach.

Before being attacked, Katie was an ambitious model and presenter who also studied beauty therapy in college. Katie was Miss Winchester runner-up in 2006 and had relocated to London to pursue a presenting career as well as modelling for fashion magazines.

She was also scheduled to appear on the model reality show Candy Crib. Katie needed 250 operations following the incident, including ones to reconstruct the skin on her face and let her breathe through her nose.

She also underwent psychological counselling to help her cope with the stress of the incident. Katie has recently established The Katie Piper Foundation, a foundation that assists burn sufferers like herself. She is also a presenter and author.
