Ulta Beauty made a mistake in recent emails they sent out to their subscribers on Sunday, May 1 2022 asking them to come and hang out with them for the launching of the new beauty line of Kate Spade. The Beauty retailer faced backlash for the insensitivity of the words used in the email since the founder of Kate Spade died by hanging in 2018.

The promotional email received a lot of backlash on Twitter, with some accusing Ulta of doing it on purpose. One user wrote, ‘How disgusting to use for clickbait.’

Kate Spade and her husband, Andy, founded their label in the early 1990s. The Spades put their own money into the line, exhibiting Kate’s handbag designs at trade shows until they received orders from Barneys and Fred Segal, among others.
Even though they never gave the bags to celebrities for the exposure they were soon featured in Vogue and gained organic fame. Kate, however, committed suicide by hanging in June 2018 as a result of her ongoing depression.
