Alasdair MacLennan is the husband of Scottish politician Kate Forbes.

MacLennan and Forbes tied the knots on July 21, 2021, and in August 2022, they welcomed their first child.

Who Is Kate Forbes?

Kate Forbes is a Scottish politician, chartered accountant and current Cabinet Secretary for Finance and the Economy in Scotland’s Cabinet.

Born on April 6, 1990, in Dingwall, Scotland, Forbes attended Selwyn College, where she studied history. She proceeded to Cambridge and later, the University of Edinburgh, where she earned a Masters in diaspora and migration history.

Forbes has experience working for Barclays, after which she became a member of the Scottish National Party (SNP) in 2016.

During Nicola Sturgeon’s cabinet reshuffle, Forbes was appointed Minister for Public Finance, and deputy to the Finance Secretary Derek Mackay.

She remains the first female to deliver a Scottish Budget in history.

Is Kate Forbes Becoming Minister?

Forbes recently expressed her interest run for the SNP leadership election, following Nicola Sturgeon’s resignation as First Minister of Scotland.

Forbes is coming with a promise of delivering “competent leadership”.

For her, it is time to “unleash the full talent of the SNP, the wider Yes movement and the country at large”.

“The choices we make in the next few weeks will have a profound impact on our future and our children’s future”, she added in her speech.
