Karol J. Bobko children: Meet his son and daughter

Born in New York City, New York, on December 23, 1937, Karol Bobko is a well-known astronaut. As an astronaut who participated in the 1975 Apollo-Soyuz Test Project, a voyage onboard the Space Shuttle Discovery in 1985, and a mission for the United States Department of Defense in the Space Shuttle Atlantis in 1985, Karol is also well known.

In addition, he was the first pilot to successfully complete a mission on the Space Shuttle Challenger before it was destroyed in an accident in 1983. The United States is where Karol is originally from. He held the rank of Colonel in the American Air Force, as did his colleague astronaut James Irwin.

Bobko led the test and checkout team at Kennedy Space Center in the run-up to Columbia’s maiden flight (STS-1), serving as the group’s lead astronaut.

He and F. Dianne Welsh have a son and a daughter together. He and his wife were residents in Half Moon Bay, California. In Houston, Texas, Bobko joined SPACEHAB, Inc. as Vice President for Strategic Programs in 2000. He oversaw a company that creates ideas, procedures, and hardware for upcoming space applications.
