In 2005, Kara Young got married to Peter Georgiopoulos. He was the founder of the General Maritime shipping company, which was a billionaire at the time, but General Maritime went bankrupt in 2011.

Young lived in New York City with Georgiopoulos and their two children. She is a member of the board of directors for Action Against Hunger.

As a model, Kara Young represented several cosmetics companies and appeared three times on the cover of Vogue, and Playboy (Germany) and was an entertainment news correspondent for Fox News Channel.
According to Young’s company website, between 1988 and 1998, she appeared in advertising companies for Revlon, L’Oreal, Clairol, and Maybelline, as well as Victoria’s Secret and was photographed by Richard Avedon for the “Most Unforgettable Women” campaign.
