Veteran Nigerian actor and lawyer, Kanayo O. Kanayo, has expressed concern over the understanding of friendship among the younger generation, particularly in light of a tragic incident involving the alleged murder of a Ghanaian lady and her Nigerian friend in Aba, southeastern Abia State.

The victims, identified as Celine Chidinma Ndidum and Ghanaian Afibah Tandoh, were reportedly in Aba to meet a business partner when they went missing in April 2024. Reports indicate that they were killed by the man they had gone to visit.
The alleged kidnapper, Andrew Amaechi Ochekwo, was subsequently shot and killed by the police while attempting to flee from lawful custody en route to Abuja.
In a video shared on social media, Kanayo O. Kanayo lamented the ease with which young people today form friendships and the risks associated with meeting people they connect with online.
Expressing his concerns, Kanayo O. Kanayo questioned the wisdom of traveling long distances to meet individuals met through social media platforms, citing previous incidents of disappearances and tragedies.

Referring to recent cases such as Cynthia’s disappearance after traveling from Abuja to Lagos to meet her boyfriend, and now Celine and Afibah from Ghana, Kanayo emphasized the importance of caution and discernment in online interactions.
Addressing the younger generation, particularly those engaging in online relationships, Kanayo O. Kanayo stressed the value of hard work and cautioned against equating material gain with the cost of human life.
He urged young girls to prioritize their safety and encouraged them to appreciate the value of their lives, especially those engaged in small businesses to sustain themselves.
Concluding his message, Kanayo O. Kanayo warned those preying on vulnerable individuals, stating that the law would eventually catch up with them.
