He eventually won the competition. He grew up in the kitchen, learning recipes from his mother and grandmother.
Sutherland attended the Le Cordon Bleu College of Culinary Arts in Atlanta to further his culinary education.
After graduating from there, he returned home to demonstrate his abilities in some of Minneapolis’ top restaurants, including Meritage and Brasserie Zentral.

Justin operates several award-winning restaurants under the Sutherland brand, including the Handsome Hog, Obachan Noodles and Chicken, Chickpea Hummus Bar, The Gnome, Woodfire Cantina, and Gray Duck Tavern.
