Justin Frimpong Kodua, General Secretary of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), has hinted at a possible announcement of Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia’s running mate by the end of July 2024.

In an interview on Peace FM’s ‘Kokrokoo’ show on Wednesday, June 5, 2024, Kodua expressed optimism that the decision regarding the running mate would not extend beyond July.
Reflecting on past experiences, Kodua emphasized the importance of timely decisions, stating, “We nominated our running mate in August, but that did not help us. This time, as we aim to ‘break the 8’, if that is to happen, certain things that did not help us in the past must not be repeated.”

Despite the December 7 general elections drawing closer, Dr. Bawumia has yet to announce his running mate, heightening anticipation within the party and among the public.
The race for the NPP running mate position has intensified, with several potential candidates emerging. Among them are Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh, Dr. Yaw Osei Adutwum, Ursula Owusu-Ekuful, and Bryan Acheampong.
