In the 2012 NFL Draft, the Jacksonville Jaguars selected Justin Blackmon with the fifth overall pick. This move was significant, making him the highest drafted player from Oklahoma State since the legendary Barry Sanders in 1989.
The Jaguars traded up with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, demonstrating their belief in Blackmon’s abilities.
During his first NFL season, Blackmon showcased his potential, with 64 receptions, 865 receiving yards, and five touchdowns.
Blackmon’s career took a troubling turn due to off-field issues. He was suspended for the first four games of the 2013 season for violating the NFL’s substance abuse policy.
Later in the 2013 season, Blackmon was suspended indefinitely for another violation of the substance abuse policy.
Unfortunately, he has not played in the NFL since.
