Julie Powell a food blogger best known for her cooking memoir, Julie & Julia, which inspired a film starring Meryl Streep had an estimated net worth of $6 million at the time she died.

Born Julie Foster on April 20, 1973, she died on October 26, 2022 of cardiac arrest at age 49.
She became an internet sensation after blogging for a year about making every recipe in Julia Child’s “Mastering the Art of French Cooking.”

Her blog landed her a book deal and later a movie adaptation (which was released in 2009).

Her second book, Cleaving: a Story of Marriage, Meat, and Obsession, was published in 2009.
- The book detailed the experiences she had while learning to butcher at Fleisher’s butcher shop in Kingston, New York, and the effects of affairs by both her and her husband on their marriage.
- It was published on November 30, 2009.
Her publisher, Judy Clain, the editor-in-chief of Little, Brown and Co, paid tribute to Powell, writing:
“Julie & Julia became an instant classic and it is with gratitude for her unique voice that we will now remember Julie’s dazzling brilliance and originality.”
Powell is survived by her husband, brother and parents.
