Jerry Harkness is the father of Julie Harkness, a former Radio City Rockette currently working as an On Air Reporter for “Made in Hollywood”.

Julie is also widely known as the wife of David A. Arnold, an American stand-up comedian, sitcom writer, producer, and actor whose sudden death occured on Wednesday, Sept. 7.
Julie’s father Jerry, was an American professional basketball player. He was born on May 7, 1940 and died August 24, 2021 at age 81.

Jerry played for the New York Knicks of the National Basketball Association (NBA) and the Indiana Pacers of the American Basketball Association (ABA).

A consensus first-team All-American, Jerry was selected by the Knicks in the second round of the 1963 NBA draft.
Though his professional career was relatively short, he left his mark in the record books on November 13, 1967, when he hit an 88-foot-long (27 m) game-winning buzzer beater to lead the Pacers past the Dallas Chaparrals, 119–118.
It was the longest shot in professional basketball until 2001, when Baron Davis hit from 89 feet (27 m) to end the third quarter.
Jerry played college basketball for the Loyola Ramblers, where he was captain of the 1962–63 team that won the 1963 NCAA national championship.
He was also a civil rights activist.
