Borussia Dortmund has completed the signing of Julian Ryerson from Bundesliga rivals Union Berlin. Ryerson was born in Lyngdal, Norway, and attended the Viking Stavanger Academy. He made his senior debut in 2015 and went on to contribute to 10 goals in 68 first-team appearances in domestic competition before joining Union on a three-year deal in the summer of 2018.

Ryerson is a right-back by trade, but like former Dortmund player Achraf Hakimi, he can also play on the opposite flank. So far in 2022/23, he’s played more as an inverted left-wing-back than on his natural side.
Dortmund announced the signing of Ryerson on January 17, 2023, to replace the injured Thomas Meunier. His contract will last through June 2026.
