Gaslit tells the true story of Martha Mitchell (Julia Roberts) and ex-US Attorney General John Mitchell (Sean Penn), who at the time of the scandal was head of President Richard Nixon’s re-election committee.

It speaks on the major political scandal involving the administration of U.S. President Richard Nixon from 1972 to 1974 resulting from the cover-ups of its involvement in the June 1972 break-in of the Democratic National Committee headquarters at the Washington, D.C. Watergate Hotel complex.
