Journey Ja-rel Newson is an American mixed martial artist who competes in the Ultimate Fighting Championship’s Bantamweight division. Journey Newson has a record of 9 wins and 3 losses in Pro Mixed Martial Arts.

Newson was born and raised in the Merced area. Journey and his siblings were placed in foster care when he was around the age of seven due to his mother’s drug addiction and despite his father’s best efforts to keep the family together.
Around the age of 12, he began training in Tae Kwon Do. Around the age of 20, he began training in Brazilian jiu-jitsu for self-defence, then switched to mixed martial arts after a few years.

Newson began fighting in 2015 for a variety of regional West Coast organisations, including Cage Sport and King of the Cage. He went 9–1 during this time, winning the Cage Sport and Prime Fighting Bantamweight titles.
On June 29, 2019, at UFC on ESPN 3, Newson made his UFC debut as a late replacement for Sergio Pettis against Ricardo Ramos. He was defeated by a unanimous decision.
