Josh O’Connor is an English actor. He is the son of John O’Connor and Emily Bunting. His mother Emily Bunting is a midwife and his father John O’Connor was a teacher.

He was born in Newbury and raised there until the age of five when his family relocated to Cheltenham, Gloucestershire, where he was raised.  His older brother, an artist, is the middle son of a family of three boys, and his younger brother, Seb, is an ecological economist and PhD researcher.

O’Connor comes from a family of artists. His grandfather was British sculptor, John Bunting, his grandmother is a ceramicist, and his maternal aunt is Madeleine Bunting, a British writer and commentator.

Josh O’Connor gained recognition for his performances in film, television, and stage productions. One of O’Connor’s notable roles is that of Prince Charles in the critically acclaimed television series “The Crown.”

Prior to “The Crown,” O’Connor appeared in various film and television projects. He starred in the 2017 film “God’s Own Country,” playing the lead role of Johnny Saxby, which earned him further acclaim. O’Connor’s other notable film credits include “Florence Foster Jenkins” (2016) and “Emma.” (2020), where he played the character Mr. Elton.
