Jordan Thompson, one of the tallest fighters in the cruiserweight division, is prepared to have a significant influence on his division. On September 30, the top-ranked challenger will square off against Jai Opetaia in his native London for the latter’s IBF and Ring Magazine titles at the OVO Arena. On DAZN in the US and the UK, there will be a 12-round fight as well as the undercard action.

In June 2021, Matchroom Boxing and Thomson agreed to a multi-fight contract. Before attempting to win the gold, promoter Eddie Hearn intended for Thompson to fight twice more. Thomson stepped up to the bat, though, as Richard Riakporhe backed out of the money bid to take on Opetaia. Thompson is the +333 underdog compared to Opetaia’s -450 odds at Bet MGM. Hearn is yet sure that the British player can defeat the Australian.
