Hicks began two businesses as a result of his illness. The first is a brand called “Diabetic Phenom,” which contributes 10% of its clothes sales to diabetic charities.
The second is a collaboration with Medtronic Diabetes, a medical device company that has developed technology such as the MiniMed 670G system, an insulin pump that alerts him if his insulin levels are too high or too low and automatically regulates the delivery of his background insulin based on those levels.
