JonBenét’s first name combines her father’s first and middle names, and her mother’s first name was used as her middle name. John Ramsey was the president of Access Graphics, a computer software company that was eventually acquired by Lockheed Martin.
Her mother, Patsy Ramsey entered JonBenét in numerous Boulder child beauty pageants, where she won America’s Royale Miss, Little Miss Charlevoix, Little Miss Colorado, Colorado State All-Star Kids Cover Girl, and National Tiny Miss Beauty.

JonBenét’s body was found on December 26, 1996, in her family’s Boulder residence. Following JonBenét’s tragic death in 1996, John and Patsy Ramsey became central figures in the investigation.
In 1999, a grand jury decided to charge both Ramsey parents with the crime. However, the district attorney refused to sign the indictment, alleging insufficient evidence, and instead stated that no further judicial action would be conducted.
That judgement was only made public in 2013. JonBenét Ramsey’s mother Patsy died of ovarian cancer in 2006, at the age of 49, and was buried close to her daughter.
