Jonathan Sheppard, an English horse trainer whose accomplishments will endure forever, passed away at the age of 82.
Sheppard, who was raised in Hertfordshire, rose to prominence as a trainer in the US and ruled the chasing scene in Europe.

He did have some success in his own nation, though, as Flatterer finished as runner-up in the 1987 Champion Hurdle. This horse helped Sheppard achieve his incredible feat of 1,242 victories over jumps and £19.6 million in earnings by becoming the first and only animal in history to win the American steeplechase Triple Crown.

He held the record for being the top trainer over jumps 26 times and 29 times in the money, but he also had success on the Flat. 2008 Breeders’ Cup Filly & Mare Turf champion Forever Together added another victory thanks to Informed Decision.
