John Vulliamy: Who Was Shirley Hughes’ Husband And What Was His Cause Of Death?

Shirley Hughes and her husband had three children together. She and her partner were married for over five decades

John Sebastian Papendiek Vulliamy was Shirley Hughes’s husband.  He was an architect and an etcher. She married her partner in 1952 and remained married until he died in 2007.

Vulliamy’s cause f death has not been made public.

During the weeks following her husband’s death, she was doing well. Weekends, on the other hand, were hell, which is why she began writing books to make the days more pleasant. She began to enjoy writing and began to do more, according to the Independent.

Shirley spent most of her life in Notting Hill, where she and her husband brought up their three kids.

Hughes was a self-taught illustrator who began her career illustrating the work of other authors. Her breakthrough novel, Dogger, was published in 1977 and earned her a Kate Greenaway Medal. It was chosen as the public’s favourite Greenaway winner of all time in 2007.

Shirley was born and raised in the English town of West Kirby, Wirral. She attended West Kirby Grammar School before leaving to study costume design and drawing at Liverpool School of Arts. She also attended Oxford’s Ruskin School of Drawing and Fine Art.
