Although, the Bible does not say exactly when John the Baptist died. He was six months older than Jesus. It appears that he began his ministry as a prophet at around the age of thirty as did Jesus.
Jesus came to him to be baptized about six months later. John was arrested maybe six months or more after that.

Herod kept John in prison for an undetermined time. Herod (Antipas) was afraid to kill him right away because he feared the response of the people who greatly respected John and viewed him as a prophet.

However, it seems likely that within a year of his incarceration he was executed on Herod’s birthday at the request of the daughter of Herod’s wife, Herodias.
John the Baptist was born in the 1st century BC and died in AD 30. He was an itinerant preacher active in the area of Jordan River in the early 1st century AD.
He is also known as John the Forerunner in Christianity, John the Immerser in some Baptist Christian traditions, and sometimes alternatively referred to as John the Baptizer.
