John Sattler’s son Scott Sattler is a former professional rugby league footballer who played in the 1990s and 2000s before becoming the Gold Coast Titans’ Football Manager.
He was a Queensland State of Origin representative lock who played club football for the Gold Coast Chargers from 1992 to 1993 and again from 1997 to 1998.
Scott Sattler also played for the Eastern Suburbs Roosters in 1994, the South Queensland Crushers from 1995 to 1996, the Penrith Panthers from 1999 to 2003, and the Wests Tigers for one season in 2004.

John Sattler passed away on 20 March 2023. No cause of death has been given. However, Sattler’s son Scott revealed in June 2021 that his father had been diagnosed with dementia in 2020.
In 2008, he was named one of Australia’s greatest 100 players, the same year he was inducted into the NRL Hall of Fame.
