He began his football career at a young age. He played college football at the University of Washington, where he showcased his speed and playmaking abilities.
During his junior year in 2016, he had a breakout season, recording 81 receptions for 1,150 yards and 17 touchdowns, showcasing his skills as a dynamic deep threat.
In the 2017 NFL Draft, Ross was selected by the Cincinnati Bengals with the ninth overall pick. However, his NFL career was marred by injuries, which limited his playing time and impact on the field.

In March 2021, Ross signed with the New York Giants, seeking a fresh start in his NFL journey. However, Ross was placed on injured reserve in October 2021 due to a hamstring injury, further hindering his chances to make an impact during the season.
On January 9, 2023, Ross signed a reserve/future contract with the Kansas City Chiefs. He announced his retirement to the Chiefs on July 26, 2023. They later placed him on reserve/retired list.
