John Lennon was born John Winston Ono Lennon on October 9, 1940, in Liverpool, the United Kingdom at Liverpool Maternity Hospital to Julia Stanley and Alfred Lennon.

John Lennon’s father Alfred was a merchant seaman of Irish descent. He rose to worldwide fame as the founder, co-songwriter, co-lead vocalist and rhythm guitarist of the Beatles.

John Lennon had 25 number-one singles on the Billboard Hot 100 chart. His best-selling album, Double Fantasy, won the 1981 Grammy Award for Album of the Year and in 1982, he won the Brit Award for Outstanding Contribution to Music.

John Lennon had been voted eighth in a BBC history poll of the 100 Greatest Britons in the year 2002. He was ranked by Rolling Stone as the fifth-greatest singer and thirty-eighth greatest artist of all time.

John Lennon was inducted into the Songwriters Hall of Fame (in 1997) and the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame (twice, as a member of the Beatles in 1988 and as a solo artist in 1994.

Why was Julian Lennon left out of the will?

Julian Lennon was left out of the will because John Lennon and his son Julian had a difficult relationship. This was also compounded by the fact Julian and John’s first wife, Yoko, were not on good terms.
