John Amos Children: Meet K.C Amos & Shannon Amos

John Amos is a father with two children from his first marriage to artist and equestrian. Noel Mickelson. They are Shannon Amos who has ventured into the world of writing and producing. She is the founder of Afterglow Multimedia, LLC. His son K.C. Amos has also made a name for himself as a Grammy-nominated director. His accomplishments in the field of directing have been recognized on a significant platform.

Amos’s path to acting unfolded when he landed his first major TV role as Gordy Howard, the weatherman on “The Mary Tyler Moore Show” from 1970 to 1973. However, his breakthrough came with the portrayal of James Evans Sr. on “Good Times” from 1974 to 1976. Despite being cast as a hard-working father in a struggling African-American family, Amos, at 34, openly expressed dissatisfaction with the show’s portrayal of the African-American experience. This clash led to his departure from the series after the third season.

His acting journey continued with diverse roles in TV shows such as “Hunter,” “The West Wing,” and “Men in Trees.” Amos became a familiar face on both the big and small screens, earning nominations for a Primetime Emmy Award and an NAACP Image Award.

John Amos’s contributions to the entertainment industry have not gone unnoticed. In 2020, he was inducted into the New Jersey Hall of Fame, a testament to his enduring impact on American television and film.
