Jock Zonfrillo was a Scottish chef and television host based in Melbourne, Australia. Jock Zonfrillo died on April 30 in Melbourne at the age of 46. No cause of death was disclosed.

His family confirmed his death on Monday, May 1 2023, saying “our irreplaceable husband, father, brother, son and friend” died on Sunday in Melbourne.

“With completely shattered hearts and without knowing how we can possibly move through life without him, we are devastated to share that Jock passed away yesterday,” Zonfrillo’s family said in a statement.

“So many words can describe him, so many stories can be told, but at this time we’re too overwhelmed to put them into words. For those who crossed his path, became his mate, or were lucky enough to be his family, keep this proud Scot in your hearts when you have your next whisky.”

Jock Zonfrillo began working as a dishwasher part-time in kitchens when he was 13 years old, while still in school. He dropped out of school at the age of 15 and began an apprenticeship in the kitchens of The Turnberry Hotel.

He was appointed to his first head chef position at The Tresanton Hotel in Cornwall at the age of 22

Jock Zonfrillo founded The Orana Foundation and served as a judge on MasterChef Australia alongside Andy Allen and Melissa Leong.
