Joanna Simon Obituary

Joanna Simon was a journalist and mezzo-soprano from the United States. Joanna Simon was born on October 20, 1936, in New York City.  She grew up in Fieldston, a Bronx neighbourhood near Riverdale.

Joanna Simon was the older sister of singer-songwriter Carly Simon, singer-songwriter Lucy Simon, and photographer Peter Simon.

In the 1960s, Joanna Simon rose to prominence as an opera singer and concert performer. She appeared frequently on TV talk shows.

She became an arts correspondent for PBS’s “MacNeil-Lehrer News Hour” after retiring from singing, and she won an Emmy in 1991 for a report on mental illness and creativity.

She was the Vice President of the Fox Residential Group until 2012. (FRG). She worked as an associate broker for the FRG in 2014.

Joanna Simon passed away a day before her 86th birthday in Manhattan on October 19, 2022, at the age 85 from thyroid cancer, just one day before her sister Lucy died of breast cancer
