Joan Rivers died on September 4th, 2014, in a New York City hospital after suffering cardiac arrest during a medical procedure. She passed away at the age of 81.

According to the New York City medical examiner, Rivers was sedated with propofol before dying of low blood oxygen during a procedure to treat voice changes and acid reflux.
Rivers’ brain was deprived of oxygen for an extended period, causing brain damage, according to the medical examiner.
After being sedated with propofol and undergoing procedures to examine her condition, her heart stopped.

Joan Alexandra Molinsky, better known by her stage name Joan Rivers, was an American actress, comedian, producer, writer, and television host. Many critics regard her as a pioneer of women in comedy.
Rivers became the first woman to host a late-night network television talk show in 1986, with her rival programme, The Late Show with Joan Rivers. She went on to host The Joan Rivers Show (1989–1993), for which she won a Daytime Emmy Award for Outstanding Talk Show Host.
She was ranked sixth on Rolling Stone magazine’s list of the 50 greatest stand-up comedians of all time in 2017.
