Williams was drafted by the Buffalo Bills in the sixth round of the 2001 NFL Draft after attending Vanderbilt College (No. 196 overall).
The defensive back never played for the Bills, instead signing with the San Francisco 49ers, where he spent four seasons.
Williams spent two years with the Seattle Seahawks before retiring from the NFL, serving as team captain during the team’s Super Bowl XL campaign in 2005, which ended in a loss to the Pittsburgh Steelers.

Over his six-year NFL career, Williams appeared in 80 games, seven of which he started, totalling 151 tackles (124 solo) and three interceptions.
Since 2011, Williams has served as the defensive coordinator and Assistant Athletic Director at Episcopal School of Baton Rouge, where he was inducted into the school’s Hall of Fame in 2006.
According to the team, Williams died on Friday, July 8, 2022. He was 43 years old. Williams leaves behind his wife, Chandra, and their son, Ace.
