He played at Easter Road from 1962-74, making his debut at 16 and remained the club’s youngest player until 2004 when Jamie McCluskey made his first team debut.
O’ Rourke still holds the record for youngest goalscorer at 16 years and 88 days old.
O’Rourke found the back of the net 122 times in 325 appearances, including the winner in Hibs’ 1972 League Cup final victory and a brace in the famous 7-0 derby demolition of Hearts at Tynecastle on 1 January 1973.
Despite his strong contributions to the success of Hibs, O’Rourke was controversially forced out of the club.
He was transferred to St Johnstone in 1974 to make way for Joe Harper, who had been brought in from Everton, for a huge transfer fee.
He later played for Motherwell before returning to Easter Road as an assistant coach to Eddie Turnbull.
