His father J.D. Ross worked for the Adair County highway department and was gone from sunrise until sunset.
Jim Ross; parents supplemented their income by breeding J.D.’s prize bird dog and selling the pups to local hunters. Both of his parents died at the age of 64.
His maternal grandparents kept a general store in Westville, Oklahoma, while his paternal grandfather, Dee Ross, was a carpenter and owner of an off-sale beer store.

Jim Ross is best known for his lengthy and illustrious career as a WWE play-by-play announcer. He is affectionately known as JR or Good Ol’ JR. Ross has been dubbed “Wrestling’s Greatest Commentator of All Time.”
During his time with WWE, Ross was largely considered as the company’s voice, notably during the late 1990s and early 2000s’ Attitude Era.
He has been inducted into the WWE, NWA, and Wrestling Observer Newsletter halls of fame, as well as the George Tragos/Lou Thesz Professional Wrestling Hall of Fame on two occasions.
