Jim Ramsey, a long-time WGN employee, has passed away.

Jim Ramsey was a familiar face of the WGN Weather Department on Saturday evenings before retiring in 2017.

Jim Ramsey worked for WGN for the most of his 42 years in radio.

Jim Ramsey earned his bachelor’s degree in 1975 from the University of South Carolina and worked in North Carolina, Colorado, and Virginia before settling in Chicago and joining WGN in 1987.

After graduating from the University of South Carolina in 1975, Jim Ramsey began his career as a news anchor and in 1980, he relocated to Chicago to work as a news and weather reporter for ABC-owned WLS-Channel 7.

Jim Ramsey has worked in North Carolina, Colorado, and Virginia earlier and after three years at ABC 7 and four years at WJLA, the ABC station in Washington, D.C., he joined WGN in 1987.

Sadly, Jim Ramsey passed away on 8th April 2022 due to unforeseen circumstances.

Jim Ramsey’s death was announced by the channel WGN. They did not, however, identify the cause of his death.

Jim Ramsey the weatherman is survived by his wife of 16 years, Leslie; son, James; and stepchildren Angel, Chrissy, Vanessa, and Mark.
