He is best known for anchoring The Jim Bohannon Show, a nationally syndicated late-night radio talk show on the Westwood One Network.

He was inducted into the National Radio Hall of Fame in 2003 and received the Talkers Lifetime Achievement Award in 2013.

The couple got thirty-three years later at a book signing in Columbia, Missouri. Bohannon and his family reside in the Washington D.C. suburb of Montgomery Village, Maryland.
