The couple met in 1990 while dealing blackjack at a charity event. On June 15, 1991, the couple married in Wilmette, Illinois.
On August 15, 1994, they had a son, Alex. During their marriage, Jeri commuted between Los Angeles and Wilmette.
Their divorce was finalised on August 27, 1999. During the divorce proceedings, it was revealed that Jack had asked her to participate in sexual acts in public places, which made headlines and caused a media storm.

Despite the scandal, Ryan continued to work in the entertainment industry and has since become a respected and well-known actress.
Jack Ryan retired in 2000, as an active partner at Goldman Sachs to teach at Hales Franciscan High School, a private Catholic high school in Chicago’s Bronzeville neighbourhood.
