Loughman started out as a rugby player with Athy RFC and earned a cap for Leinster’s Under-18 Youths. The Leinster Schools Rugby Senior Cup was won in 2013 and 2014 after he transferred to Blackrock College.

In 2017, Jeremy signed a three-month development contract with Munster. On December 8, 2017, he made his debut for Munster A, coming on as a substitute. He replaced another player in the 2017–18 Pro14 matchup against Ulster to make his Munster debut in 2018.

2018 saw the extension of his contract through the end of the 2017–18 campaign before it was renewed for the entire 2018–19 campaign. Jeremy committed to a two-year deal with Munster in February 2020, which will keep him employed by the region at least through June 2022.
