Debra McCurdy played a significant role in her daughter Jennette’s rise to fame. Debra handled several of Jennette’s career matters as a young actress.

Jennette McCurdy has revealed that her mother abused her emotionally and sexually. “My mom’s emotions were so erratic that it was like walking a tightrope every day,” she said in an interview with People magazine.

McCurdy claims that her mother pushed her into acting when she was six years old, both to support her family financially and because her mother aspired to be a performer herself.

She also revealed that her mother performed vaginal and breast exams on her until she was 17 years old and never let her shower alone.

McCurdy’s mother was diagnosed with breast cancer when she was three years old, and she underwent several surgeries, chemotherapy, and a bone marrow transplant.

Debbie McCurdy was diagnosed with cancer again in 2010 and died from it in 2013.
