This is the only time the women’s world number one has ever lost at Wimbledon to a qualifier. Dokic went on to reach the quarterfinals of that competition, her only Grand Slam title.
Jelena Dokic’s early success on the tennis tour continued as she reached her career-high ranking of world No. 4 in 2002.
Despite her early success, Dokic’s career was plagued by personal issues, injuries and inconsistencies. She retired from professional tennis in 2014, at the age of 31. Since then, she has become a commentator and analyst for the Australian Open.
