Jeff Petry is an American professional ice hockey player who has made a name for himself in the National Hockey League (NHL). He was born on December 9, 1987, in Ann Arbor, Michigan.

Petry’s hockey journey began in his college years when he played for the Michigan State University Spartans in the NCAA. drafted by the Edmonton Oilers in the second round of the 2006 NHL Entry Draft.
After being drafted, Petry honed his skills in the American Hockey League (AHL) with the Oilers’ affiliate team, the Oklahoma City Barons.

He made his NHL debut against the Buffalo Sabres on December 28, 2010, and recorded his first NHL point, a secondary assist on a goal by Ryan Jones.
Throughout his NHL career, Petry spent the majority of his time with the Edmonton Oilers, becoming a key player on their blue line. However, in March 2015, he was traded to the Montreal Canadiens, where he truly flourished.
Petry and forward Ryan Poehling were traded to the Pittsburgh Penguins on July 16, 2022, in exchange for Mike Matheson and a 2023 fourth-round draft pick.
