Jean-Claude Van Damme is a Belgian actor and retired martial artist with a net worth of $40 million. Jean-Claude Van Damme began practising martial arts at the age of ten and went on to win numerous honours throughout his teens and twenties, culminating in the title of “Mr. Belgium” in bodybuilding.

He shifted his focus to acting after moving to the United States in 1982 and scored a major box office hit with “Bloodsport” in 1988. Over the next few years, he would release a slew of successful action films, including “Cyborg,” “Kickboxer,” “Double Impact,” “Universal Soldier,” “Nowhere to Run,” “Hard Target,” and the massively successful “Timecop.”

Van Damme made a pittance of $25,000 in 1988 for the film that launched his career, “Bloodsport.” He then made around $75,000 for the films “Black Eagle,” “Kickboxer,” and “Death Warrant.”

His pay began to rise in the early 1990s when he was paid $600,000 for 1991’s “Double Impact.” He made $1.5 million the following year for “Universal Soldier.” He made $3.5 million the following year for “Hard Target.”

He made $5 million the following year for “Timecop.” In 1994, Van Damme earned a career-high $8 million for “Street Fighter.” In 1995, he was paid $5 million for the film “Sudden Death.”

Van Damme earned around $40 million in base salaries before taxes between 1991 and 1995. In today’s dollars, that equates to around $70 million.
