Selected as the fourth overall pick by the St. Louis Blues in the 2008 NHL Draft, Alex Pietrangelo quickly established himself as a formidable presence on the team’s blue line. In his debut season in 2008, he showcased his talent and became an integral part of the Blues’ defensive unit. As his career progressed, Pietrangelo’s offensive abilities flourished, ranking among the top NHL defensemen in points during the 2011-12 season. He also became the youngest defenseman in Blues history to achieve consecutive seasons with 40 or more points, earning him a fourth-place finish in the Norris Trophy voting.

Pietrangelo’s defensive prowess was equally impressive. In the 2012-13 season, he led the league in shifts per game and topped the Blues’ roster in both shorthanded and power-play ice time per game, a feat not accomplished by a defenseman since Al MacInnis in 2002-03.
