Jay Thomas parents: Meet Katharine Terrell & T. Harry Terrell

Jay Thomas was born on July 12, 1948, in Kermit, Texas, to Katharine Guzzino and Timothy Harry Terrell. His mother was a tap-dancing South Louisiana belle of Italian descent, and his father was an oil man.

Jay was raised in his mother’s Catholic religion. Timothy Harry Terrell passed away on June 28, 1972, in New Orleans, Louisiana. Unfortunately, there is not enough information about Katharine Terrell’s life after Jay’s birth.

In 1997, Jay Thomas starred in the television film Killing Mr. Griffin, based on the eponymous novel. In films, he co-starred in Mr. Holland’s Opus (1995), and portrayed the Easter Bunny in The Santa Clause 2 (2002) and The Santa Clause 3: The Escape Clause (2006).

Jay Thomas was also known for his annual Christmas story on “The Late Show with David Letterman,” where he would recount a humorous story about his life.

Jay Thomas won the Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Guest Actor in a Comedy Series in 1990 and 1991 for portraying Jerry Gold.
