Jasmine Camacho-Quinn is a Puerto Rican athlete, the first Puerto Rican of Afro-Latino descent and the second Puerto Rican ever to win a gold medal.

Jasmine was born on August 21, 1996, in Charleston South Carolina, to an African-American father, James Quinn, and a Puerto Rican mother, María Milagros Camacho.

Jasmine attended Fort Dorchester High School, in North Charleston, South Carolina, and now participates in the 100 metres hurdles.

In 2016, Jasmine tok part in the Rio Olympics, and during the 2020 Tokyo Olympics, she made a historical record of 12.26 seconds, the fastest time in history.

Her athletic achievements has been celebrated by social anthropologist Bárbara Abadía-Rexach, who believes that “Jasmine’s victory is a pioneering example for black girls on the island that shows them they can achieve whatever they set their minds to, despite the “systemic barriers” they will encounter due to their gender, race and ethnicity.”
