Jan Bednarek injury: How did Jan Bednarek break his ribs?

Polish professional footballer, Jan Bednarek who plays for Southampton Football Club of the English Premier League was sent off and rushed to the hospital after he broke his ribs. He collided with James Ward-Prowse and was subbed during their match against Tottenham Hotspur today (Saturday, March 18, 2023).

He was replaced by Ainsley Maitland-Niles, 10 minutes before half-time. During the match, three other players were sent off due to injuries. Even though Bednarek wanted to play after sustaining the injury, he could not withstand the pain and had to be sent off quickly.

Richarlison was sent off the pitch just four minutes into the match, while Armel Bella-Kotchap was also sent off due to a suspected dislocated shoulder injury after 8 minutes. Ben Davies was also subbed and replaced by Ivan Perisic 37 minutes into the first half of the match. Due to the numerous changes, seven minutes were added to the first half as additional minutes to make time for the loss.
