Jamie Kah Parents: Meet John Kah and Karen Gardiner-Kah

Jamie Kah was born to her parents, John Kah and Karen Gardiner-Kah, who used to be speed skaters, representing Australia at the Winter Olympics.

John Kah

John Kah was a short track speed skater, representing Australia at the 1992 Winter Olympics in the relay team.

A year before, he won the 5,000m relay at the World Championships in 1991 in Sydney.

Karen Gardiner-Kah

Karen Gardiner-Kah was both a short track speed skater and long track speed skater.

She participated in the Winter Olympics as well, and represented Australia at the World Allround Speed Skating Championships for Women.

She also competed at the ISU Speed Skating World Cups, and set a total of 15 national records between 1986 and 1987.

Who Is Jamie Kah?

Jamie Kah is a famous jockey and one of the world’s best female jockey.

Born on December 7, 1995, in Australia, Kah became the “first jockey to ride 100 winners in a Melbourne Metropolitan racing season.”

She began working in stables at age 13, and later as an apprentice.

In 2012, she made her first race at Streaky Bay, and rode her first winner the same year at the Easter Saturday meeting at Clare.

Kah has won the Adelaide Jockeys’ Premiership three times and won her first Group One race on Harlem in the Australian Cup at Flemington.

In 2020, she was ranked the number one female jockey in the world, and 77th jockey overall.

In 2021, she rode her 1000th winner at the Pakenham racecourse.

Kah is engaged to fellow jockey and trainer Clayton Douglas, and they share a property on the Mornington Peninsula, where she re-trains retired racehorses.

In 2023, Kah won the Hong Kong Classic Mile on Voyage Bubble, and so far, she has ridden 1,173 winners, of which eight were Group One winners.
