Former Pan-Pacific swimming Champion Jamie Cail passed away from an unknown cause, on February 21, 2023. She was aged 42.

Cail was reportedly found dead in a Virgin Islands apartment which she shared with her boyfriend.
Her boyfriend, whose identity has been withheld, was at a bar when the incident occured. He had only arrived at midnight to discover Cail’s body on the floor.
“With assistance from a friend, the boyfriend was able to get Cail to a nearby vehicle and transported her to the Myrah Keating-Smith Clinic”, The Virgin Islands Police Department stated.
“This case is presently under investigation by the Criminal Investigation Bureau,” read a statement by the Police.
Cail had been pronounced dead on arrival at the clinic.

Who Was Jamie Cail?
Jamie Cail was an American competitive swimmer who won a gold medal at the 1997 Pan-Pacific swimming Championships, in the 4 × 200 m freestyle event.
She represented USA in many swimming competitions.
Cail hailed from New Hampshire, and began training with the Golden West Swim Club while in high school.
She also won a silver medal at the 1998-99 World Aquatics Swimming World Cup in Brazil.
“She was just… a very beautiful person,” a family friend had said upon hearing of her demise.
“She had a huge heart. She was really loving and kind and well-loved and popular on the island and everybody knows her.”
“Everyone from the, you know, older generational, local families to the younger people, everybody loved her,” her friend added.
