James Goldrick had two sons, Owen and Edmund Goldrick.

Edmund Goldrick is a co-author and is responsible for a great part of the research behind the published book; The Greatest Escape by Neil Churches.
Goldrick saw operational action in the Persian Gulf in 2002, leading the multinational Maritime Interception Force.
Jame Goldrick relished the complexities of the job and made critical tactical contributions to executing the UN Security Council’s sanctions on Iraq.

James Goldrick was a towering mind and the most fluent writer and speaker on the necessity of seapower for Australia inside the Royal Australian Navy and the national security community more broadly.
Goldrick retired from the navy in 2012 and was shortly lecturing as part of the Australian National University’s instructional staff at the Defence College he had led.
His depth of naval knowledge routinely amazed Australian and international pupils.
James Goldrick was an ANI Honorary Life Member.
His death will undoubtedly be mourned deeply by its members.
